On Feb 15 to 27, 2016, TRMPC went to Chad for medical services. There were two special cases: a 5 years old girl with hand adhesions-Patrica, and a 10 years old girl with cleft lip and palate, Sylvienne. After the evaluation of the medical teams, physicians recommended to send them to Taiwan for further operations to restore their living function. Two patients and families with one interpreter arrived in Taiwan on May 28. Again, we thank CPC Corporation for supporting their tickets and living expenses and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for supporting 90% of their medical expenses. Both enterprises’ charity has become the role model for most businesses.

While cheering up for these two girls from Chad, the Myanmar girl who came to Taiwan for tongue operations in July last year, also came back for recheck on June 13.

Caused by scald for the hands adhesions, Patricia is attended by Ms. Hu from plastic surgery department in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital; Sylvienne is attended by the director Dr. Chen of plastic surgery department of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Annie Liu and Elaine Chin, both our staffs go to check on them everyday.

June 1st 7:30am Patricia has surgery on her right hand, which was performed by Dr. Hu.
Patricia back to ward for recovery in the afternoon. The girl was brave lying down quietly , and the mother was accompanying her.

June 2nd Sylvienne had first surgery for cleft lip and palate, which was performed by director Chen. (The operation lasted for a long time)

June 5th
Patricia had rehabilitation treatment bracket to fix her palm avoiding wrist tendons being retracted again. Cute Patricia restored her vivacity and started to sing in the ward. Nurse, Ms Tseng also came to visit Patricia.

Comparing with yesterday, Sylvianne’s wound is less swollen today. Nurse teaches her to brush her teeth to maintain oral hygiene and wound dressing. The brave Sylvienne said she has to tolerate the pain no matter what and take this God given opportunity for the treatment. When she returns her hometown after recovery, her mother won’t be laughed by neighbors. Also, she hopes that no one will call her monster any more. It is heartbroken when hearing her saying that.

June 4th, 5th, 6th

Sylvienne is learning to eat some liquid food.

Sylvienne brushes her teeth and her brother is helping with dressing.

June 7th
Sylvienne back to the clinic for her stitches. Dr. Chen said her healing is good and will perform 2nd operation for the following 6 to 8 weeks to reconstruct her lips and nasal bone. Doctor will take her rib to build the nasal bone and take her brother’s nose as a reference to meet the appearance of Chad people. Otherwise, it might cause her trouble if it’s built as the appearance as the people of Europe and America. Knowing her healing condition is good , Sylvienne is happy and shows a victory sign facing the camera.

June 8th Patricia had operation on left hand.
With both hands being wrapped, Patricia started to cry because of the pain. Mother and the interpreter are comforting her to make her stop the tears.

June 10th
It’s quite boring to stay in ward for long. Upon hearing Dr. Hu’s saying that she can’t check out today, Patricia starts to cry again. Thanks to Nurse Tseng to take her out for fresh air and sun tan. Three of them were having fun with selfie.

June 11th
Time to check out for Patricia.

June 14th
Patricia went back to the hospital for dressing. She cried out loud for it’s really painful, but she immediately put on her smile after that. This is the cute and brave Patricia.

June 15th
Patricia went back to the hospital for her stitches (right hand). Some part of the wound is not healed completely, so there were partial stitches being taken out. Dr. Hu said she will arrange proper time for stitches according to her healing progress. (it will be done in the operating room)

June 16th
Patricia goes to rehabilitation center for exercise her fingers to avoid being rigid. Because some actions will cause the pains, the therapist distracted her attention successfully with Chinese hand drum.
