7/20(Wed.) - The new Sylvienne after nasal bone and lip reconstruction surgery

After awaiting six hours of surgery directed by Dr. Chen, the director of the plastic surgeyr department of the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital,  we witnessed the new and transformed Sylvienne. Locals in Chad did not understand the conditions of orofacial cleft, Sylvienne and her mother were once targets of mockery and disdain. With the success of the operation, all the painful memories will be a thing in the past!

Although Sylvienne hadn't recover fully from anesthetia and yet to witness her brand new face, everyone, including the translator, the doctors, TRMPC volunteers, and FTV reporters who had been following the progress since our 318th medical mission in Chad, were all ecstatic for Sylvienne's transformation!

7/21(Thurs.) - Skin graft surgery on Patricia's right hand 
After assessing Patricia's progress on recovery, Dr. Hu performed skin graft surgery today. 

(Left) After the surgery, Patricia was impatient due to the pain, and Patricia's mother was patting her head.
(Right) Dr. Hu was also encouraging Patricia. 
Now that Patricia has completed all of the operations, the progress of recovery from the surgery is crucial.


Today, Sylvienne finally got the chance to look at herself in the mirror. "I am totally different!" She said with satisfaction with her eyes wide open. The people beside her asked if she was haooy with her transformation. She grinned widely and said "Very much so." 

Sylvienne still has one more mission: the nurse taught her brother and her how to clean the wound and replace the gauze, the same process as the first surgery. The doctor mentioned that it will take approximately two weeks for Sylvienne to recoever, and in the mean time, she can only have liquid food.

7/22(Fri.) - Day two after Sylvienne's surgery
Sylvienne's recovering well, and she was scheduled on 7/26 to have the stitches removed. Sylvienne has successfully finished both operations and no other surgeries are needed. 

The documentation of Sylvienne's transformation will be on TV this Saturday! Stay tuned!!
